What an incredible event! We want to thank actor and writer Bob Odenkirk and illustrator Erin Odenkirk for their discussion about the creative process and their new book, "Zilot & Other Important Rhymes," and for sticking around after to meet guests and sign books!
A special thank you to moderator Tom Gammill for his delightful and hilarious questions, too!
During the live conversation, Bob Odenkirk shared the process of writing silly poems with his kids when they were young:
"I'd say, 'What did you do today? Where are you going tomorrow? Or what did we eat for dinner?' Then I'd write that down...Then I'd ask, 'What is a word that rhymes with today?'... I'd get it in there. Now they have two lines about something that they did or saw or ate in the world, and then right away—there is a rhyming word that is not necessarily the best, but who cares? Even then, the kid has an achievement because they rhymed something. Already, in two lines, they feel like I won. I won this poem."
